Every year we watch so many movies for the stellar acting, the great storyline, fantastic direction and whatnot. But every once in a while, there comes a film that creates a buzz in the fashion world. Movies that kick off fashion trends or give us daily outfit inspiration. If you too are looking to add some Bollywood vibe to your wardrobe, then you must check out these movies which gave us some major fashion goals!

1. Aisha

When you see both Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor affiliated with a film, you know it’s going to be big in fashion! Aisha redefined fashion in Bollywood by bringing in high-end luxury brands. There were significant fashion moments in this movie, and we can’t pick which one’s our favourite! This movie started the trend to dress up for everything, even to bake a cake. The headbands and hats that we saw in this movie could also give Blair Waldorf a run for her money! Whether we admit it or not, Aisha is one movie that has truly changed the fashion game in Bollywood.

2. Cocktail

This movie was a game-changer for Deepika Padukone. Not only did it introduce us to her brilliant acting skills, but it also gave us some killer fashion goals too. Stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania was the mastermind behind all those uber-stylish looks, and she introduced us to the much loved Aztec print (remember Tumhi Ho Bandhu?). We all have something in our wardrobes with an Aztec print on it, don’t we? This movie spoiled us for choice for our daily #ootds (outfit of the day), not to mention the extravagant party outfits. The skirt and top Deepika sported in her first scene, and the sequined dress, the dark green maxi dress- party girl Veronica was a true fashion icon!

3. Kabhi Khushi, Kabhie Gham

Tumhe koi haq nahi ki tum itni khoobsurat lago

The self-assured diva Poo aka Kareena Kapoor Khan set the fashion bar super high in this one! With her crop tops (which every millennial swears by) and mini skirts and the bell-bottoms and flared jeans, Poo gave us some major fashion goals. She brought back the long-gone chokers and fur! Also, the co-ord sets (remember the red number in You are my Sonia?), the millennial pink colour, metallic nails and even the mismatched shoes have now become fashion trends! All in all, Poo gave us some sassy and chic style inspiration which makes us look P.H.A.T (pretty, hot and tempting) even today!

4. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

While the movie was about love and heartbreak and Ek Tarfah Pyaar, it still managed to help us up our fashion game. Alizeh’s bright chikan and thread work kurtas, with long slits, paired with ripped denim jeans screamed sanskari with a hint of badass. With jhumkas and earrings and a leather jacket on top, Alizeh taught us how to wear our kurtis in the winters as well. This movie also gave us a shirt with a heavy lehenga skirt trend. We can’t forget her extravagant bridal lehenga that inspired a lot of brides to be!

5. Dostana

How can we not feature Dostana in this list! We saw Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the sexy Neha, a modern independent girl. Since the movie was set in Miami, we saw PC in shorts and tank tops, bikini tops and body con mini dresses. The most iconic look, however, was the muted gold sari with a bikini blouse which was the talk of the town and how can we forget the golden swimsuit which set the screen on fire. Neha from Dostana also introduced us to the layered hairstyle which we still absolutely love!

6. Piku

Deepika in Piku encouraged us to channel our desi divas, not just for Shaadi season but also at work or in college. Piku inspired us to wear long kurtas with palazzos and even with our skinny jeans. Along with that, it also brought back the little black bindi and kohl-rimmed eyes. The movie made popular the simple, elegant and modern Indian girl look for work and college.

7. Khoobsurat

Apart from Fawad Khan (Swoons) Khoobsurat gave us the uncoordinated and unconventional Dr Mili. Sonam Kapoor as Mili made the trend of print on print and lots of patterns and colours worn together seem super cool. As if she doesn’t do so otherwise, Sonam Kapoor gave us major #ootd goals and also reminded us that black and blue are not the only colours available to us. The most iconic was her dhoti pants that she’s worn in the song Abhi toh party shuru hu hai which inspired many outfits for the shaadi season!

8. Veere Di Wedding

We cannot end the list without one of the most significant fashion outings of 2018. With the most fashionable ladies of B town Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rhea Kapoor, we expected some major fashion trends. They brought back the athleisure trend with both Kareena and Swara’s outfits and of course the extravagant shaadi costumes which Delhi is known for. But what we loved the most were the corsets worn by Sonam and Kareena in Taareefan.
