We are sure all the entertainment buffs would know about the latest web series to have hit the small screen, ‘Broken But Beautiful’. And we also know that you’d know about it’s cute & bubbly actress, Harleen Sethi. In fact not only has the show become a huge success, but Harleen has won over the internet with her viral dance and fitness videos. So, we caught up with this cutie recently, where she spoke to us candidly about her take on relationships, her love for travel, her fitness mantra and more.

Hi Harleen. Can you tell us about your role in Broken But Beautiful?

I am a die-hard romantic at heart so a love story coming my way was a dream come true and that too with an experienced and exceptional actor like Vikrant Massey. But Broken But Beautiful is a contemporary take on urban relationships with complex characters and a relatable storyline. I play the role of ‘Sameera’ who had forgotten herself in a relationship. It’s a highly challenging part and I’m glad people are connecting with her on a personal level.

You play a die-hard romantic soul in Broken But Beautiful. Are you like that in your personal life too?

Oh yes, I wear my heart on my sleeve and I love too much too! But that’s my USP and I love that facet about me. Today’s relationships are fragile and can barely withstand the stormy currents that a relationship can go through. The partners have lost patience with each other and they don’t believe in investing or giving as much as they would like to receive. The approach now is more individualistic and as a generation, we are less content with what we have and are spoilt for choice.

True that! So, what’s your take on web series as a platform becoming so huge recently?

Web shows have opened up a plethora of opportunities for everyone associated with the industry and it’s a great time to be out here. You can put out whatever content you believe in and there’s a market to consume it. Yes, there’s less pressure in terms of box office collections but the hard work you put in for your performance doesn’t differ and shouldn’t differ.

Can you tell us a bit about your growing up years in Mumbai?

So I still live in the same house where I was born, surrounded by the same people in my colony and this is home for me. Growing up, I was never that girl who would constantly look into the mirror or dress up well or hang out with friends. I was always competitive, action-oriented and impatient about what I could win next. In college, Narsee Monjee canteen was my favourite, and also CCD (Cafe Coffee Day) which had opened up within the premises of Mithibai.

What’s your favourite street food in Mumbai (apart from vada pav!) and your favourite fine dining place in the city?

I am an all-time chaat lover and I can eat it every evening. I am a big fan of Khatta-Meetha flavour. Yauatcha in Mumbai is my favourite fine-dining place.

We know you are big on dancing and fitness. Any diet & fitness secrets you’d like to share with our readers?

Different things work for different bodies. Sometimes hardcore workout can also increase your cortisol levels (stress hormones). So it’s important to plan a routine according to what suits your body the best. Don’t compare yourself to anyone and don’t blindly emulate what’s working for someone else as it might not suit you. But yes, eating right is directly proportional to how you look and feel. Cravings are never-ending and what no-to-do is as important as what-to-do.

Absolutely right! So we’ve seen some amazing travel pictures on your Instagram feed. Can you tell us about your most adventurous travel tale?

Travel opens up your mind to new cultures, people, food and places. It’s an enriching experience and I’m addicted to travelling! This year, I travelled to Spain and easily it’s one of the most adventurous trips I’ve taken so far. I visited Barcelona, Mallorca and Granada. There I rented a BMW convertible and drove around in Sierra de Tramuntana range, exploring hidden beaches and floating in the deep blue sea. I trekked in Sierra Nevada range just to see the sunset right from the top of the mountain. It was totally a breathtaking experience.

You have to tell us about your secret make up hacks. What’s the ideal day look and night look for you?

I like to keep it real mostly! So, a little bit of concealer, mascara, some tint on the lip and cheeks is what I prefer. And a lot of confidence is a must and you are all set.

Lastly, apart from social media & messaging, what’s the most favourite and useful app on your phone?

Notes is my most favourite app! I am a very spontaneous person so a lot of my ideas, what I feel, my poems and my to-dos everything is in there. In my phone, that’s where the real treasure is!
