Built 16 feet below the sea level, Ithaa is undoubtedly the best Maldives undersea restaurant, which you can visit. For all those who don’t know, it was rated ‘the most beautiful restaurant in the world’ by the New York Daily News in 2014. Keep in mind the dress code which is smart-casual and bare feet as you will be walking over the wooden flooring. But one catch guys, it only seats 14 people, at a time, so make your reservations in advance before heading here.

Are you also thinking how was this structure made? It weighs 75 tons and was made on dry land in Singapore before being transported by ship here. Doesn’t that sound totally insane, but incredible too? Then it was carefully dropped into the ocean with an additional 80 tons of sand ballast to make it sink. Talking about the cost of building the restaurant, it was approximately $5 million!

Ithaa restaurant is a part of The Muraka Hotel, which is at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. It is a world’s first of its kind resort and for those who don’t know, ‘Muraka’ means ‘coral’. At the Island, they welcome you with open arms to dive in to experience this gorgeous place. With ocean-facing bathrooms, an underwater bedroom and other 5-star facilities such as a private gym, this place is absolute heaven. The resort covers miles of fine white sand beaches and will offer you picturesque spots!
Food Delights
So, the view steals the show but the food is also a treat! Their menu consists of a blend of Maldivian and International cuisine, with dishes such as Agnolotti of duck, Yellowfin tuna, Angus beef with truffles. And yes for all the vegetarians, you can request them to serve a veg meal too.

Ithaa’s dessert menu is incredible and unique offerings. Honey roasted pumpkin cheesecake served with almond milk is a must-try. You should even try their exotic dish, Bolivian cru Sauvage chocolate and kaffir lime panna cotta, which is a coconut and chocolate-infused dessert.
