Delhiites, Donate Warm Clothes at These NGOs & Help The Needy During Delhi’s Record-Breaking Cold Wave

If you’re in Delhi, you’d know how the record-breaking cold wave has gripped the city! In fact, for those of you who complained last year for not being enough cold, well, here you go! And while we are all busy layering up, there are a lot of needy people in the city who may not have enough layers to keep themselves warm. And you old, warm clothes can be someone’s reason for joy this winters.
There are certain fashion brands like H&M, Levis, Marks & Spencers & more which have ongoing campaigns where you can donate your clothes in the recycling box at their local stores. But apart from these brands, there are several NGO’S in the city, where you can donate your clothes and help the needy to keep warm and comfortable. 1. Goonj

This Delhi-based NGO channelises unused material from urban homes for those in need. Their Odha Do Zindagi campaign is an annual winter campaign that directly aims at collecting everything that can help keep the homeless and needy people warm. You can drop off blankets, woollens, gloves, jackets, socks, caps, coats, shawls and more at one of their dropping centres.

2. Uday Foundation

The Uday Foundation is working closely with survivors of disasters who are affected by floods and earthquakes. At Uday Foundation, donations are accepted both in cash and kind. Also, they help in organizing donation drives like #WinterForHope wherein they collect warm clothes, blankets and other products that provide some warmth in the cold months of winter.

3. Agewell Foundation

Agewell Foundation works towards the upliftment of the homeless elderly. Every year during the winters, they launch their campaign called ‘Share The Warmth’. Weeks before the campaign, a list of all the pick-up points across the city is released where you can drop off winter clothes like coats, sweaters, jackets and blankets. The volunteers at the Agewell Foundation distribute the clothes among the needy and older people.

4. Clothes Box Foundation

Here at the Clothes Box Foundation have a vision that every individual should wear clean clothes. To make that fulfil these needs of the needy, one can drop off the clothes at one of the collection centres. Since the inception of Clothes Box Foundation, they have provided clean garments to more than 1,00,000 happy recipients. Also, they have drop-off and home pick-up facilities available.

5. Asha Bhawan

Dedicated to helping the homeless and people who suffer from drug addiction, Asha Bhawan accept donations from individuals and companies. They have three centres in the town- Gurgaon, Govindpuri and Janakpuri. You can drop off blankets and clothes at any of the centres, or you can even get in touch with them to plan a pick-up from your home. Apart from the clothes, you can also donate your old furniture too.

6. Dream Girl Foundation

Based out of Gurgaon, they focus on healthcare, education, and works to provide a better future for the unprivileged girls. Regular clothes donation are conduct, so either you can call them up or check their website how you could donate. You can donate clothes and toys that can fit the children between the age of 1-14 years here at the centre.

7. Pahal Foundation

Pahal Foundation takes in all kinds of clothes throughout the year. They work primarily focusing on taking care of the elderly as well as for the socially backward and underprivileged children and women. You can donate books, stationery items, clothes, shoes, school bags for there campaigns.

8. Helpage India

Helpage India works towards supporting the welfare of the less fortunate elderly in the country. This organisation helps you to get in touch with multiple old age homes in the area where there’s a requirement of blankets and warm clothes. Hand over your old and warm clothes at one of these old age homes and be a part of the change in society.

9. Deepalaya

Deepalaya works for children, especially the girl child, street child and disabled child in the areas of health, education and more. For donations, they are open to all kind like either in cash or in kind. And if you wish to donate clothes, all you have to do is fill in the details, and they will connect you for further communication. You can donate books, warm clothes, shoes, blankets which are in good condition and will be useful for the kids.
