The Story of DelhiPlanet in 15 Tweets

Its amazing to see how much the world has changed in the last two decades. The 1990s was the era of the Personal Computer. Businesses increasingly became digitized and human habits gradually started moving towards the PC (or Mac). Technology also started improving and drove down the costs of Personal Computers making it affordable and ubiquitous.
The first half of the 20th century also known as the Information Age was characterized by the power of the Internet and its ability to create billionaires and fledging businesses in short periods of time. The world started to shrink as information became freely available on the internet and Google rose to the status of God, as it could help you find anything you wanted anytime you wanted it. The second half of the last decade made this information accessible on the move as Apple revolutionized our lives with the iPhone. Social networks also started blossoming and it now became possible to connect with old friends you hadn’t been in touch with for many many years.
And now, judging by the trends that are emerging this year, the first year of the new decade, it certainly seems that it will be characterized by the growth and explosion of Social Media and intensive always on Media consumption thanks again to Apple and the iPad.
Thus, in keeping with the spirit of innovation and keeping pace with the latest trends we too decided to take the plunge and explore the Twitterverse. So a couple of weeks ago we started our Twitter account, created a beautiful twitter page and then decided to tell a story about the inception of this publication. What better way to do it than to tweet it in a limited number of tweets over two days?
Well, that’s what we did and the result is here for you to see, our story in 15 tweets

We surely had a lot of fun doing our Twitter story and hope that you liked it as well. While it is fun to try such things, it really ruins your english and takes away the charm or reading stories the Old Fashioned way. So don’t advise this to your children till they have completed their university education :-).

It’s January,2009 and the New Year has arrived. Most people on this planet would have never experienced an year like 2008. Whether it was the employee, the businessman, the student or even the housewife the last half of 2008 had an impact on everyone. But let’s not discuss the bad things of 2008, most people were happy to see the end of it.
2009, the last year of the first decade of the 21st Century(considering 2000 as the first year) has on it’s shoulders a huge burden of setting things right and establishing a new world order. 2009 is a very important year for the entire world and the focus shall be on restoring the Economy and establishing world peace. Barrack Obama steps into the Oval Office a few weeks from today and the whole world has their eyes on him. The theme of 2009 is therefore a more peaceful and more united world with a balanced economy.

Q. What is secret of Happiness ? How does one remain happy at all times ?
Seems like a question that would be posed to a Miss World or Miss Universe contestant or to a large audience attending a spiritual discourse. Well, the answer to this question really depends on the age of the person to whom it is posed to. A small kid would say that “chocolates and toys” is the key to his happiness. A young teenager would need nothing else other than his “favorite video games and comics” to stay happy, while the young 20 something adults would be happy “partying and drinking“. However, the truly wise and experienced man would know that all of these things bring only momentary pleasure and happiness.
The secret to true happiness and being happy at all times is to “to have a balanced mind, body and spirit“. Human life in the 21st century if full of materialistic desires and needs and while it is not wrong to pursue them, it is important to understand that only gaining and experiencing them is not the purpose of life. It is possible to be the richest man in the world and be a nervous-wreck while it is also possible to be not-so-rich and be very happy. A person with a balanced mind, body and spirit is always aware and is always happy because he always lives in the moment. Much of our worries and tensions happen because we are always uncertain about the future and therefore keep worrying about it. A wise man once said “Our today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday”, which is a state of mind that most people have and it basically forms the source of all tensions and health related problems.
So how does one achieve a balanced mind, body and spirit. What is the path that one should follow to achieve this state of perfection ? Well, to begin with it is a long term process, results for which can be seen only with extreme patience and perseverance. However it always helps to have a guide or guru to help one achieve the results faster. So if you’re all set to begin the process and are looking for the right source or person then look no further.
Starting this month, DelhiPlanet in association with Internationally renowned, Queen Yogini Kristin Mcgee would bring to you all the information you would need to attain that perfect balance that would give you long term happiness and contentment. Kristin as our readers may remember is an American yoga expert who has spent years trying to master it’s physical and mental forms. You can catch Kristin’s introduction and our previous coverage on her in the following articles :
- Introducing Kristin McGee - The Queen Yogini Of The West
- Uniting The World With Yoga - An Exclusive Interview With Queen Yogini Kristin McGee Part - 1

What Did Superman Give India This Diwali ?
November 8, 2007 by krisdhingra
It’s Diwali, the “Indian Festival Of Lights“. A time when people all across the country and Indians all across the globe adorn their houses with lights and lamps. It’s a day which people celebrate with great fervour and enthusiasm and is one of the biggest festivals in the country.
In the 21st century this festival continues to carry forward its religious and cultural significance. While the festival is supposed to have originated to commemorate the homecoming of King Rama of Ayodhya, after a 14-year exile in the forest (thus the people of Ayodhya welcomed him back by lighting up rows of lamps), today it has become an event where people exchange gifts and pray for a better and brighter future. The lights and lamps are supposed to signify the uplifting of darkness and victory of good over the evil within.
And then there is Superman, the great american hero who embodies the noble american virtues of honesty, patriotism and chivalry. Superman is superhuman and possesses god-like powers which he uses to good effect while battling numerous villians and super-villians in the universe.
Now, wait a minute, Lord Rama and Superman, isn’t there something similar between these two. There certainly is. Both of them are superhuman but lead ordinary lives as normal humans(superman spends his time as Clark Kent, a reporter at the Daily Planet when he’s not crime-fighting). Both of them fight villians and monsters(rakshasas) to ensure world-peace. While lord rama has billions of worshippers all over the world, superman too has millions of fans across the globe. So maybe for a while we can assume that Superman is infact the modern day Lord Rama.
So what would happen if Superman visited India around the festival of Diwali. Well, he wouldn’t be welcomed the way Lord Rama was, but he would certainly use his powers to enjoy this diverse and mystical land. And maybe, he would even give India a diwali gift.
On the occasion of Diwali, DelhiPlanet is very proud to showcase the DelhiPlanet Comic Strip. A short story on Superman’s discovery of India which ends with his gift to the country (See below, click on each image to see the larger version).
Well you probably know the answer to the post title now.

Our endeavour is simply to keep you informed and to try and make a difference to the world that we live in.
