Do you feel jealous and envious of each and every Television personality that shows off their perfect body for one reason or another? Have you been working out regularly in an effort to look great but haven’t achieved the results you would have liked? Are you looking for a way to workout and feel great but not spend a bomb on Health Club fees and costs?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions then Congratulations, you’ve landed on the right page and in a few short moments you’ll find out how you can achieve a great body as well without spending a fortune. Very few of us realize this, but there are a bunch of exercises that one can do without using any props or weights and still achieve great results. One such form of exercise is Pilates.
Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. As of 2005, there are 11 million people who practice the discipline regularly and 14,000 instructors in the United States. Just like Yoga, Pilates too focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to strengthen the deep torso muscles.
Unfortunately, the art of Pilates isn’t too widespread in India and there are only very few good certified Pilates instructors in the country. However, there are a number of excellent Pilates instructors in other parts of the world especially the U.S of A. Many of these instructors create high quality video workouts which can be done at anytime anywhere.
So if you’re looking to try such a workout, then we would recommend our favorite instructor and Queen Yogini of the West, Kristin Mcgee. Kristin has been featured on DelhiPlanet a number of times, some of her articles can be found at the following links:

A DelhiPlanet Health And Wellness Exclusive, In Association With Queen Yogini Kristin McGee
Does your job demand you to stay on your seat for 7-8 hours a day ? Do you need to stay on the phone for many hours a day and do you sometimes need to talk on multiple phones at the same time ? Does your work involve huge amounts of time on the keyboard ?
If so, then it is most certain that you suffer from ailments like a Sore Back, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, a Slouched Posture etc. All of these are some examples of health related problems that affect people who have desk or computer intensive jobs. While on the one hand computers have simplified things they have eliminated the need for forced “mini-breaks” that people used to take earlier for tasks like inserting paper in typewriters, whiting out errors or getting up to file papers.
Thanks to word wrapping, page breaks and hard drives, people don’t get these mini breaks any more. The human body is not designed for this kind of long and continuous “motion-free exertion” and this often results in Repetitive Stress Injuries, i.e injuries which are caused when too much stress is placed on a joint due to a constantly repetitive motion.
One of the easiest ways to de-stress and avoid such work related injuries and problems is to take breaks at regular intervals and just stretch out and loosen those muscles. Yoga is actually a great way, to stay away from all such ailments and it just takes a few minutes after a couple of hours of work to get the body rearing to go again. In today’s article Kristin shows a couple of really easy moves to de-stress the body while at work. Check them out in the video below (Courtesy: Sprig.com).
